Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important representative commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
